2011 Mpumalanga Schools MTBSeries

Introduction

Mountain biking is ranked as one of the fastest growing sports in South Africa today. Cycling SA has recently renewed its support for schools to promote and embrace mountain biking, with the aim of building recognition for this Olympic sporting discipline in the school sport structure.

It is against this background that the SPUR Steak ranches have renewed their support for the national school series for 2011.

The age categories for 2011 have been amended to fall in line with the UCI (union cycleste international) international standard for Mountain Biking. This will allow our more senior riders to compete at national level within these respective categories.

Riders score points for themselves with equal points going to their schools. Points will accumulate so at the end of the series a champion will be declared in each age group.

The junior and senior school with the most points will receive a floating trophy and is declared the Champion Junior MTB or Senior MTB School in the Lowveld.

In 2011, the Series is made up of four events, with the best three results to count towards the final provincial standings.  Events are run on a Saturday afternoon with practice and registration commencing at 12h00 and racing starting at 13h00.
